Turmoil in Co. Galway at the Beginning of the 19th Century

Our November lecture will take place on Wednesday 13 November at 8pm in Lackagh Parish Centre, when Gerry Cloonan will speak on Turmoil in Co. Galway at the Beginning of the 19th Century. Gerry’s talk will focus on the Ribbonmen in County Galway and their leader, Anthony Daly, who was hanged in Seefin, Craughwell, in 1820.

Gerry Cloonan is a local historian and author of the recently published History of Craughwell Parish. His book outlines Craughwell’s rich heritage, its people and historical events, and includes stories of landlords, agrarian unrest, murder, hanging, boycotting, and various organisations that have served the people of Craughwell over the years.

All are welcome to attend this public lecture. There is a €5 charge for non-members.

Members of the Association are reminded that the library opens at 7:30pm on the evenings of lectures.
