The Western Family History Association is pleased to announce a hands-on workshop on DNA for genealogical purposes. The event will take place on Wednesday 10 April in Lackagh Parish Centre, commencing at 7:30pm.
The focus on the evening will be on using the tools provided by the main DNA testing providers (FamilyTreeDNA, Ancestry, …), as well as the useful free website GEDmatch.com, to which users can transfer their DNA data. The use of GEDmatch to perform some more advanced comparisons will be demonstrated on the night, and participants will be particularly encouraged to try these for themselves. Anybody who has taken a DNA test, and is unsure how to interpret the results, or what to do next, is encouraged to attend.
The workshop will be facilitated by WFHA committee member Paul Greaney.
