Emigration to Australia in the mid-19th Century

Our March meeting took place on Wednesday 9 March at 8:00pm in Lackagh Parish Centre.

Michael Martin, WFHA PRO, spoke on ‘Emigration to Australia in the mid-19th Century’.

Abstract:

Large numbers of people from Ireland as well as Britain emigrated to the then newly discovered continent of Australia during that century. There are very many descendants of Irish emigrants in Australia together with many recent Irish emigrants. This talk will narrate the story of one extended family and how their story was researched and documented.

The library opened from 7:30pm on the evening for members who wished to borrow/return books.
