Slider11On Saturday 25th April 2015 the Association are planning a visit to the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts and History at Collins Barracks Benburb Street Dublin 7 – adjacent to Heuston Station, Museum, Collins Barracks on Saturday 25th April 2015, meeting in the reception area there by 10.45 am. The visit will consist of a Self-guided Tour (Tour guides are no longer available for the public – just for school groups).

A feature at the Museum, until 30 April 2015, is a series of rare photographs of the Gallipoli campaign of WWI (taken by Ballinasloe doctor Andrew Horne) which have never been made public before.

There are also public promenade performances (with audience standing) of ‘The Irish at Gallipoli’, a play which tells the story of middle-class Dubliners “the posh Pals”, who signed up to the 7th battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers in 1915. Performances are at 11.00am, 12.00pm, 2.00pm, 3.00pm and 4.00pm. There are several permanent exhibitions at the Museum, including: ASGARD; The Way We Wore; Irish Silver; Irish Coins; Irish Country furniture; Soldiers and Chiefs; Reconstructed Rooms: Four Centuries of Furnishings etc.

There is a restaurant in the Museum quarters.
