A Beginner’s Guide to Family History
As part of Heritage Week 2014, the Western Family History Association hosted an Open Day entitled A Beginner’s Guide to Family History on Saturday 23rd August at Lackagh Parish Centre. Members of the Association were available from 2pm to 5:30pm for advice and demonstrations. The event was open to the public and was free of charge.
In preparation for the event, a one page handout entitled A Beginner’s Guide to Family History was devised and distributed to visitors on the day. The guide, prepared by Paul Greaney and Sean Flanagan, is now available to view online.
A large crowd came along on the day for advice and tips on researching their own family history. Representatives from Galway Family History Society West Ltd. and East Galway Family History Society Ltd. also attended the event.
The WFHA acknowledges the support of Galway County Council, who allocated funding to the event under the 2014 Community Support Scheme.
